Timo Jansen have been a corporate litigator for 20 years in the Dutch jurisdiction. I attach my resume for your information. With my background in law & economics, I always looked for ways to predict the outcome of litigation proceedings. In order to make the trial/settlement decision or to consider whether it is worthwhile to make an effort at all. This became a journey that took me from law & economics theory, through game theory and probability calculus, to – eventually – the decision analysis methodology (DA).

The latter is now a very powerful tool that helps me and my clients not only to make the decisions referred to but it generally significantly improved the quality of my work. This is because DA triggers a different approach in thinking. It makes us first identify and categorize all possible arguments, then forces us to focus on the key issues of the matter and then weigh those issues. Traditionally, legal training taught us the first step only and therewith disputers are blown up and deepened rather than resolved.
