Thomas practices globally as an international mediator, arbitrator, negotiator, and legal consultant. Based in the Netherlands, he is common and civil law trained and fully bilingual (English / German). Thomas has a keen interest in resolving commercial, corporate, and investor-State disputes, but also disputes relating to MSMEs, travel and tourism, business and human rights, as well as to international organisations, their staff, contractors, and consultants. Thomas also specialises in disputes relating to art and cultural objects. He is a Local Partner* with Themis, a leading boutique art law firm, and a panel arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration of Art in The Hague, Netherlands. Passionate for passing on skills and knowledge to the next generation of dispute resolution practitioners, Thomas lectures “Mediation” and “International Courts and Tribunals” at a university in Vienna, where he is also the Director of the IBA-VIAC Mediation and Negotiation Competition, the world’s largest and foremost mediation and negotiation moot.
