Dr Amer is an Assistant Professor of International Dispute Resolution at Birmingham University. His principal research interests are in the fields of International Commercial Dispute Resolution, Private International Law and Construction Law. He is the author of several publications in these areas.

When it comes to practice, Dr Amer is experienced in advising and representing both national and international clients before both state and arbitration bodies, in domestic, regional and international disputes, under various governing laws. Dr Amer is also a certified arbitrator and sits as an arbitrator in domestic and international commercial disputes.

Dr Amer holds a BA in Law from the Lebanese University – the French Section, a Master’s degree in International Private and International Commercial law from Panthéon Assas University (Paris II), an LLM in International and Comparative Dispute Resolution (with a focus on construction contracts and arbitration) form the International Arbitration School of Queen Mary University of London and a PhD in International Litigation and Arbitration from the Sorbonne School of Law (Paris 1).

Amer is fluent in Arabic, French and English.
