Dauna Williams has 30 years of experience, both in-house and in law firms, handling complex commercial transactions, intellectual property, technology, privacy, data protection, advertising, marketing, legal risk management and compliance, and corporate formation and governance matters. With her diversity of experience, she has led multiple strategic technology and intellectual property initiatives for Fortune 50 financial services companies as well as served as outside general counsel for startups and small-to-medium enterprises.
With respect to technology, Ms. Williams has managed the building of global offshore operations and data centers, back office outsourcing projects, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and spin-offs for financial services and other companies. She has conducted enterprise-wide platform legal integrations in the areas of open source, data security and vendor management, and negotiated hundreds of global IT agreements for trading floors, asset managers, broker-dealers, insurance brokers and technology companies. She has also led internal audits of technology architecture management, vendor licensing requirements and cybersecurity breaches. For technology startups and emerging companies, Ms. Williams has provided counsel to entrepreneurs that work with advance technologies, such as artificial intelligence, block chain, augmented reality/virtual reality and gamification.
In the areas of intellectual property, advertising , and brand management, Ms. Williams has run global trademark, copyright, patent and trade secret protection and licensing programs for global Fortune 50 companies and startups alike. She has conducted numerous investigations, and managed subsequent related litigation, in a wide variety of cases involving suspected infringement and theft of intellectual property rights (i.e., patent, trade secret, copyright, trademarks, and contractual licensing rights) as well as technology licensing abuse. Ms. Williams’ legal advice and counsel are informed by her extensive experience in law department management, in-house legal ROI analysis, legal workflow assessment, legal technology development, and technology management and solutions architecture. She understands first hand in-house legal departmental priorities, organizational design and resource allocation.
