A top attorney for former President Donald Trump is stepping down from his legal defense effort and is blaming Mr. Trump’s top aide Boris Epshteyn for allegedly being dishonest and unforthcoming in his work to assist the ex-president’s lawyers with his defense against an investigation into whether he retained classified documents illegally. The Florida governor is expected to file his official nomination for 2024 next week.

According to a report, his departure comes as the National Archives announces the discovery of a treasure trove of records demonstrating that Donald Trump and his advisors were aware they were in violation of rules by taking those classified documents to Mar-a-Lago.

This week, CNN obtained a letter from the agency informing Mr. Trump that it had discovered 16 records indicating that he and his top advisers were aware of the proper declassification procedure while he was president.

Debra Steidel Wall, an archivist, wrote, “The 16 records in question all reflect communications involving close presidential advisers, some of them directed to you personally, concerning whether, why, and how you should declassify certain classified records.”

As part of the criminal investigation into Mr. Trump’s handling of classified documents, these records will be given to Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Christiane Amanpour, one of CNN’s most well-known personalities, expresses her displeasure with the network following the town hall with Donald Trump. The town hall with Trump was so contentious that even the network’s own employees have expressed their displeasure with the event.

The former president sparred with CNN moderator Kaitlan Collins, whom Mr. Trump referred to as a “nasty person,” at the event in New Hampshire, which drew 3.3 million viewers.
