This week, Family Law Day will return to Colorado Springs. Friday is coming up on your calendar. You will get an opportunity to find out about a few legitimate points and even participate in one-on-one gatherings with lawyers.

A statement that can be found on the website of The Justice Center reads, “Acting on your own behalf in a family law case can be complicated, both intellectually and emotionally.” The statement was made by District Court Judge Catherine Mitchell Helton.

“A pro se litigant—someone who represents themselves in a legal case—will be in a better position to effectively present their case to a judge or to participate in mediation to resolve issues in the best interest of their children and family the more informed a pro se litigant is about the process and the law. Community members who are interested in learning more about family law procedures, the law, and the resources available can get information and support from Family Law Day.

Classes on topics like “How to Present Your Case,” “Divorce and the Allocation of Parental Responsibilities,” “Child Support and Maintenance,” and more will be offered for free.
